India : Growing Recognization .

Today i read a story about India on Silicon India . It was about the students of business school at Oxford University.I got amazed to see that now these students want be hired by Indian companies so as to launch their high-flying international career. Link

Can you believe this ? It is same India few years before ,where there was no opportunities and potential job for most brilliant student of IIT and IIM. Now it is on way to become "Land of Opportunity" for the whole world.

With Companies like Tata, Infosys making among the list of most recognized Companies worldwide India is truly on the way to become next Power House of the Globe.

What is happening ?

Can you see, how history will write about all the events happening at this point of time line ?
Can you see, which world we are heading into ?

How Business, Political, Social scenario is changing here in India and world wide. it is important for us to give some thought to this as that is our next destination , our next generation will live there and we must know that how that world would be ?

Let me put some of the current alarming happenings before you :
1.Terrorist attack in many part of India and world and failure of government to find out who is responsible for that and destroying them.
2.Shifting of international power from America to many other countries as per economy is concerned. But America still is most powerful country of world with per strategic and Army power .
3.Endless and Aimless war being fought in Afghanistan, Iraq etc . Danger of some more like Iran because of Iran's hidden Agenda to be Nuclear Power.
4.Growing concerns like Food Security, Inflammation, Economical instabilities and uncertainty in almost whole world.
5.Lot of incident of unusual and absurd happening in human behavior.
6.Growing tendency of Ignorance, restlessness and Less concern for ethics and value in life.

I may not be able to put a whole picture and it is not my intention to make you think Negative and worry a lot.But i want to convey is that coming time really need our attention now in order to become a Good Time. Our Ignorance and negligence needs to be shattered and we should start planting the seeds of rightness inside us by right conduct, right thought, right opinion, right speech, right food, right life style etc...

By doing this only we can make sure that if a next "Mahabharata" would be fought, we will be in the side of Pandava (Dharma-Right) instead of Kourava(Adharma-Not Right) .

Thanks a lot.

How time changed here in India ?

From the time I started reading the book "World is Flat" by "Thomas L. Friedman", my understanding of my interrelation with this whole world got redefined and i started to see myself with new perspective and position with respect to current world.

Before the time I got placed in Infosys, I used to read a lot about outsourcing, offshoring etc. but now since I am able to rejoice this opportunity came to me like many other Indian engineers, I am closer to see major changes of this century, comes through globalization.

Do you know? How this IT boom took place in India? Before I read this book I had very little idea about it. What I learnt through many newspapers and news websites was that these guy get projects related to Information Technology from US and other foreign countries, also run call centers for customers of many foreign companies. But how all these started? That is really very interesting story.

This all started when internet came in to significant existence by mid-1990 in western world but till then neither www had zoomed nor internet browser boomed to unleashed the power of internet.

Then came out a big bubble in the form of invention of www (world wide web) by Berners Lee followed by a release of amazing browser by Netscape at that time which became a big hit among internet user. The explosive demand for Netscape browser sparked internet boom and major big investor saw this as a huge business opportunity at that time and they poured billions of dollar for installing the costly fiber optics cables connecting the whole globe with the hope of getting huge return with internet booming globally in short span of the time.

But alas![for those investors only], Things didn’t go through as they all expected. Popularity of Netscape browser was just a bubble which burst before the eyes of investors who invested their billions and billions by seeing Netscape making millions. These companies faced huge losses and later overtaken by other company at very low value. But till then whole world had been connected by fiber optics cable of huge bandwidth. Since demand of such connectivity infrastructure was not much and companies bought them very cheap, getting Internet become almost free of cost because of cheap networks .

Although the companies who invested initially could not make any profit by internet and got sold in pennies but this proves to be historical milestone because investment made by these companies had connected whole world with a network which later become almost free for all.

Since this bursting of bubbles was a big setback for Western economies, it became very difficult for them to run a company profitably and many companies were facing big loss.

There comes the something to rescue the companies who survived that typhoon. That was a new trend of "Outsourcing" and "OffShoring" etc.. Companies shifted their job or part of their job to countries like India and China and because of a low cost. Because of Internet with huge bandwidth availability, all the barriers dissolved and "world got flat".

That is how IT Boom took place in India after 1990.

How you find this story? Please do tell me in your Comments.

Journey with the Flattening World

hi,
I am one among all zippies, huge cohort of Indian youth who are first to come of the age since India shifted away from socialism and dived headfirst into global trade and information revolution by turning itself into world's service center, as described by Thomas L. Friedman in his book "The World is Flat".

even before i came across this book i had some realization about the fact that either "the world is flat" or it is getting flatter. my first encounter with internet happens to be only after i passed my 12th, when i went to Jodhpur to prepare for Engineering exam in 2003 . i remember the time when i went to cybercafe for the first time with my friend and they used to chat and flirt with a girls from foreign countries. That was my first encounter with digital globalization where people from different part of globe find temporary friends ,with whom they exposes many of their unexpressed and hidden traits and talents ,you know very well ! . At that time i use the internet only on specific occasion if it is something very rare service available, e.g. to see results of exams, check for details of any engineering entrance exam etc..

Later when i get enough acquaintance with PC and internet browser, i started finding enough courage to go alone to cybercafe, but with cautious approach toward everything i encounter. I used to go there with prepared list of web pages and address for them in advance with what job i need to do and steps required for that.

I remember that surprising moment when someone told me that you need not to worry if you don't know or remember any specific website address, there is a site on internet "Google" which will find website address for any site you want and that was the moment which really make my life over internet quit simple as for any other internet user.

we are talking a lot about the Information Technology Revolution and Globalization with better world wide connectivity between every two places of world with development in lot of wired and wireless technologies and also with its falling cost because of continued technological development. It has already changed the way we do business, way we learn, way we spend our time, way we communicate with near and dear etc....

Now what lies in future... ? Where we might see ourselves if this trend continue ? What will be face and fate of this globe in say 2050 or 2100 ? what positive and negative lies in the Time to come. This question can be dealt in sequential manner by taking in account all recent development of last century, current research and development and then projecting the same trend with a approximately calculated slop to go with.

Till now, latest technologies are fueling the trends like outsourcing, off shoring, supply chaining, in-forming etc, all derived by the global connectivity with lots of wired and wireless technologies all around. So how is the requirement and expectation of business and people changing and what is the more that they are demanding, as we know that "need is mother of invention". so by looking these trend we can project it for longer period of time.

Some of these requirement can be easily listed as:
1. Better bandwidth to enhance speed and quality of transfer of packets of information over all the networks of the globe.
2.Covering all remote areas of globe by wireless connectivity, which still lacks good connectivity at affordable price with the same quality standard as in urban area, this will pour billion of other new user in internet who are still untouched by this greatest invention of 20th century.
3.With time almost all the knowledge and information will be get into digital format and will be available on a single click and with better searching algorithms, we will be able to find more precise and relevant information for our need.
4.With the better bandwidth we will find website being more graphical, animation based and more interactive.we will be able to find of lots of new , innovative web based service for individual as well as business in coming decades. with these new service coming, individual will be more empowered than ever before to achieve his/her goal and will be able to find tools to perform every possible task they can think of, over internet.
